This low-growing cactus has medium-sized clumps of rounded pads called cladodes, and is covered in soft, fuzzy spines that eventually develop into smooth white fur. The spines are a combination of large, smooth, fixed spines and small, hair-like prickles called glochids. In the spring, the cactus produces light yellow flowers.

  • Watering
    This cactus is drought tolerant and requires very little water. You can water it thoroughly when the soil feels dry to the touch, but you should avoid letting it sit in wet soil. You can also leave drought periods between waterings, or check the soil with your finger to see if it needs water. During the summer, your cactus may need more water, but in the winter it may not need any water for a few months.
