Old Man of the Mountain
Espostoa lanata (a.k.a. Peruvian Old Man Cactus) is a slow growing tree shaped cactus branching at the top with age. The ribs and spines are mainly hidden by a woolly coat. Flowers are funnel-shaped, up to 2.2 inches, white to purple, and appear in late spring to early summer
Care For Your Plant
WATERING- During the growing season water your plant thoroughly until water flows through the bottom of the pot. Don?t water again until the plant is completely dried out. This takes different amounts of time depending on the growing conditions. No Soggy Bottoms. Cactus will rot if left in moist soil.
LIGHT- Place your plant in a place with bright light or full sun provided it isn?t a hot burning sun. Grow Lamps can be helpful.
CUTTINGS- Place your rootless cuttings in dry well draining soil. Don?t water them for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks water thoroughly letting the plants dry out between waterings. Cactus are prone to rot so be sure they dry out between watering. Roots are formed in dry soil.
POTTING- Pick a pot that will give your plant some growing room. You?ll be doing yourself a favor by starting with a large pot saving you from transplanting later.
